Miqueias Mugge, Academic Research Manager at the Brazil LAB, has co-organized a special issue of the journal História Econômica & História de Empresas on the economic history of German migrations to Brazil.

Edited together with Bruno Witzel (University of Göttingen), the volume features nine contributions in English and Portuguese by historians, economists, and social scientists, including José Juan Pérez Meléndez ’05 and Jack Guenther GS *24. Topics covered range from migration restriction policies and the participation of German merchant firms in the slave trade to the diverse occupational profiles of German settlers in Brazil.
