The SPO Film Club Boquitas Pintadas is premiering the acclaimed and recently released Mexican Robe of Gems (2022), by Natalia López Gallardo, on Friday, September 16, at 8.00 pm. 

After studying film in Mexico, López Gallardo worked as a film editor alongside some of the most cutting-edge directors of recent Latin American cinema, such as Argentinian Lisandro Alonso (Los muertos, 2004), and Mexicans Amat Escalante (Heli, 2013) and Carlos Reygadas (Post Tenebras Lux, 2012; Luz silenciosa, 2007).

Robe of Gems is López Gallardo’s first feature film and earned her the Silver Bear Jury Prize at the 72nd annual Berlin Film Festival, earlier this year.

The event is free and open to the whole Graduate community. Boquitas Pintadas will be showing the original version with English subtitles.
